Cotton Holdings
Software Engineer Intern
Built a map that overlays live NOAA weather events on customer locations, so sales could call affected customers before those customers called them.
- impacted customers reached within 24 hours of a weather event
- 1,200+
- impacted customers reached within 24 hours of a weather event
From weather alert to call list
Waiting for alerts… · score = severity × 2 + account size

The problem
After a hail storm, flood, or high winds, the sales team found out a customer was affected only when that customer called in. By then the customer had already been waiting.
What I built
Weather events on a customer map
A React and Python dashboard pulls NOAA weather events and overlays their warning areas on customer locations, so the team can see at a glance who is inside an affected zone.
A call list instead of a waiting game
Customers inside an event's area become an outreach list, which let sales reach 1,200+ impacted customers within 24 hours of a weather event.
